Dear Members,

For the past several years after we renewed in-person meetings, we struggled with maintaining monthly meetings with attractive and interesting presentations. We also struggled at times with attendance and have not been able to attract younger members. In addition, since last year we are no longer a chapter of the National IACI.

After a number of lengthy discussions and consideration of several alternatives, our steering committee decided to end the organization known as the John Walsh Chapter of the Irish American Cultural Institute, effective immediately. We had hoped to continue with monthly programs through December of 2025, but due to unforeseen circumstances we realized that we could not implement that plan. Therefore there will not be any chapter programs for the rest of the year.

Members are free to continue their membership in the national IACI, if they wish. Our local chapter will no longer collect dues and, after this email, other than responding to your inquiries, will not have additional communication.

It is possible, though not likely in the immediate future, that some of us will attempt to pursue an interest in Irish History and Culture in some other format. Should that happen, we will let you know.

We would like to express our gratitude for your support over the last ten years and more. We also wish to express our appreciation and sincere good wishes to the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh, especially John Carr, who made sure that the upstairs room was set up for us every month.

Should you have any questions about the above, please feel free to send them to the chapter email at irishacijs@gmail.com.

Many Thanks,
Peter Halas, M.D. Chairman
Irish American Cultural Institute Jersey Shore Chapter
